What is Online Safety?

Online safety is the safe use of information systems and electronic communications including the internet, mobile devices and game consoles. Learning about staying safe online is very important and at Woodlands Academy we teach our pupils to be aware of the benefits, risks and responsibilities of using technology.

The internet is an amazing resource which allows children to connect, communicate and let their creativity shine. The use of technology is constantly changing so as a parent it can be a challenge to keep up to date with the benefits and risks. Sometimes it might feel like your children have more technical skills than you but it is essential that they know how to use these skills in their online lives. We teach digital skills in school as part of our computing curriculum and online safety is embedded within the computing and PSHE curriculum.
